Overview and Principles
HOPE worldwide (Thailand) have received much praise for its achievement at Kredtrakan’s Computer Training Center, so the organization has continued its works in the Pak Kred Center for children with disabilities (Nontapum Home), Nonthaburi province. Nontapum Home was established on November 21st, 1970. It has an aim to take care of children with disabilities (visual, hearing, and physical impairments). These children have experienced homelessness and abandonment. Many of them are orphans or children from broken families. The age range is 7 -18 years old
HOPE worldwide ( Thailand) set up a computer center in Nontapum Home. The purpose is to teach computer to children with disability after school, which we call the “After School Program”. This program was established on November 23rd, 2002, and it creates a perfect opportunity for the disabled children to improve their computer skills. Other advantages include a significant increase in their flexibility/movements leading to improvement of their self -confidence. As a result, some students are successful in learning despite their disabilities.
Program Objectives
- To teach basic computer skills to children with disability from Nonthapum Home .
- To provide moral support and encouragement to children with disability.
Program Strategy
HOPE worldwide (Thailand) provides an opportunity for volunteers to participate in the program. They can teach basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to children with disability. HOPE worldwide (Thailand) also creates recreational activities on Saturday. We plan fun and creative activities for them such as physical exercise and group game. Each session accommodates 16 students.
